1990s

1995 Graduates in Fullerton1991 LISSTEN (Library and Information Science Students to Encourage Networking) is organized in Southern California .

1992 The Division of Library and Information Science becomes the School of Library and Information Science.

1994 SLIS establishes its first schoolwide listserv. ALA Student Chapter (ALASC)

1995 The school is now teaching 5 interactive video courses between San José State and Cal State Fullerton.

Publications of the School of Library and Information Science from the 1990s1996 SLIS student body has 110 men and 382 women statewide. The MLIS degree costs $3,145 for students at the San José campus; a degree earned at the Fullerton campus costs $7,700.

1998 SLIS offers its first courses via the World Wide Web.

1999 SJSU’s School Library Media Credential program is ranked 5th in the nation by U.S. News and World Reports, while the Library Journal’s annual “Placements and Salaries” survey recognizes SJSU graduates as earning the highest salaries.
