Course Development and Instructional Design #12

12. (22) Curriculum development is a core responsibility for faculty (i.e., faculty should be involved in either the development or the decision making for the online curriculum choices).

Not Observed      Insufficient       Moderate Use      Meets Criterion Completely

The School’s Curriculum and Program Development Committee, comprised mostly of faculty members, has two responsibilities that specifically relate to this item:

  • Monitor and review the development, implementation and delivery of SLIS programs
  • Propose new programs and recommend approval of new courses

The course proposal process is documented in the Faculty Handbook.

The entire full-time faculty review course proposals and carry out regular curriculum reviews to ensure class offerings are current and complete. These reviews are held as needed during the quarterly faculty retreats. Large sections of the curriculum are reviewed as part of the curriculum review cycle -calendar shown in Course Development and Instructional Design 3
