Course Student Learning Objectives and Course Mapping to Program Core Competencies

Each course has both student learning objectives as well as core competencies (program-level objectives) defined for that particular class. http://slisapps.sjsu.edu/slo-core/mlis.php

Student learning objectives are mapped to course assignments on each syllabus. See http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/current-students/courses/syllabi

Assessment of program-level outcomes is carried out through the ePortfolio requirement at the end of the program. If less than 90% of students submit work at the defined satisfactory level for a particular Program Learning Outcome, then that identifies for the faculty a need for curricular review of the courses that address that outcome. Reports on the assessment of individual program learning outcomes are available here: http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/about-slis/mlis-program-performance
