Discussion Board Creation

Blackboard allows for group-level discussion boards that are similar in nature to the class-level Discussion Board, which allows for asynchronous message posting.

Upon successful group creation and enabling group discussion board capabilities, a default group forum is automatically generated. In the image below, for example, a group called 2007 was created. Thus, a 2007 forum was automatically generated:

If you would like to add more forums to your group pages, From the Menu links of your course , click Communication, and then click Group Pages :

From there, click the Group you wish to add a discussion board for:

After entering the group, click on the link which says Group Discussion Board:

To create a new discussion forum, click on the Add Forum button:

Enter a Title and Description for this discussion forum.

Under Forum Settings, choose which features you wish to enable for this discussion forum.

Finally, click on the Submit button to create the forum.

Notice that the discussion forum is now listed on the main discussion board page for the group.

To enter the discussion forum, click on the forum title. To modify the forum properties, click on the Modify button.
