Recommended Reading:

Kathleen T. Horning's Chapter 8: "Writing a Review" in her book From Cover to Cover: Evaluating and Reviewing Children's Books. HarperCollins, 1997 (p. 176-94) presents a detailed explanation with examples of the process of preparing to write reviews.

She says, "A good review will briefly describe the contents, scope, and style of a book; critically assess its quality; and suggest its potential audience." (p. 186).
