The Media Card File or Database
Here is a little fuller explanation of the log for the course. You should record everything you read, view, listen, or compute for this course. This includes all the required items, the journal articles you read, the personally selected titles you consume, the web sites you explore. For the required items, you should send in a progress report every Friday before midnight. This will help the instructor monitor your progress in the course. For other items, you will submit your file or database at the end of the course.
The purpose of this file is to serve as a log and evidence for your instructor. It can be created in such a way as to be of assistance to you in your job. Many class members in the past use their files to recall good titles they want to recommend to young people. That is why the instructor wishes you to record in a notes section anything you would like to say about the title. The notes can be brief or lengthy; critical or descriptive. There is no evaluation or grading for the class based on anything you say, so make your comments of utilitarian value to you.
Your instructor would like you to create your media file in an Excell Spreadsheet (PC or Mac) or you might use AppleWorks database or spreadsheet. (Remember, as a student at SJSU (north or south), you can get Mic rosoft Office at the Bookstore for $25)
You should send your entire file via attachment to your instructor at the end of the class on the due date he gives you. The instructor prefers that you spend almost all of your time reading, viewing and listening rather than recording.
