Survey course covering collection building and management issues for all types of libraries. Course examines information producers, criteria for selection, collection development policies, budgeting, acquisitions procedures, different media, and ongoing collection management issues. Textbooks Required: Additional readings as assigned in class. Instructor Stefanie Wittenbach Grading Attendance is mandatory. Missing one class session will automatically lower your grade by one letter grade. Four course projects will be assigned and will count 20% each. Projects turned in late will have ten points subtracted from the final grade. Additional readings for the semester will count 20% for all of the readings. Class dates and times All class sessions will be on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a
lunch break. Class will meet June 1, 22, July 13, and August 3, 2003.
