We are offering a variety of meet-up opportunities for new students to socialize and to discuss topics related to their academic work. There will be two or three peer mentors at each meeting to help facilitate and answer questions. See details below.

The No Cry Zone: Balancing Parenthood and Grad School.

Description: Starting grad school and having kids can seem overwhelming. We'll discuss ways to balance happy kids and a busy academic schedule. We'll also talk about how the field of librarianship relates to children and how pulling from ones own experience as a parent can really help with the program.

Internships

Getting Involved: SLIS Professional Organizations & Conferences

Description: Make the most of your SLIS experience by getting involved in one or more of the SLIS organizations, such as the Student Research Journal, LISSTEN, ALASC, ASIS&TSC, & SAASC. Also consider attending a professional conference and begin building your professional network. In this meeting, we'll introduce these organizations to you and share our experiences with these SLIS extracurricular activities.

Group Collaboration - You Will Survive It!
