Windows 7 Notes for SLIS Applications

SLIS is very committed to making sure that Windows 7 users are fully supported by the beginning of Spring 2010 semester.

We have included information below on Windows 7 compatibility with specific software and services.  Please check back regularly for updates.

  1. ANGEL

    • Early indications (based on testing) are that as long as you use a supported Web browser, there are no compatibility issues under Windows 7.
    • A number of ANGEL institutions have tested against Windows 7, and so far the reports are very positive in terms of compatibility.
    • ANGEL Learning (the company that makes the ANGEL LMS and ePortfolio software) is currently testing against Windows 7 and any issues that are discovered will be addressed by late December or early January.
  2. Elluminate

A new version of Elluminate Live was released on Friday, October 30th, which adds support for Windows 7.

However, SLIS is not going to upgrade to the new version while the semester is still in session as Elluminate is in heavy use.  We will be upgrading to the new version after the semester ends.

Until then, it's possible that Windows 7 users may encounter issues when accessing Elluminate.

Windows 7 users who encounter issues with Elluminate may need to make alternate arrangements for the time being, for instance using a non-Windows 7 computer for Elluminate access.

  3. DB/TextWorks

SLIS will be moving to the most current version of DB/TextWorks (v12.0) for Spring 2010.

DB/TextWorks v12.0 has been certified as compatible with Windows 7.
