Registration Process for Regular Session (See Special Session information below)
Do not go to my.sjsu.edu. First check SLIS schedules for Spring 2010 Regular Session and select your class(es). Write down the 5–digit class number in the "Class Nbr" column for each class. You can use it to register
Important: As you make your selections be sure to think about the following:- Does the class have mandatory Elluminate meetings? Will the times/dates work for you? If not, select another section. Mandatory meetings are mandatory.
- How much of a work load can you carry? The courses in this program are difficult and require substantial work and time. Most students carry between 1 – 3 courses per semester. Obligations such as work and family should be carefully considered when deciding how many courses to take. Dropping classes after the deadlines early in the semester can be problematic and expensive. We recommend that you be conservative in the number of classes you take each semester.
Plan ahead regarding how you will pay for your tuition fees. When you register for your classes, the tuition payment deadline will be listed in the Finance section of your MySJSU Student Center Web page. These payment deadlines may as short as 2 days after or as long as 3 weeks after you register. If you do not pay for your classes by the tuition payment deadline, your classes will be automatically dropped. See our "Financial Aid" Web page at slisweb.sjsu.edu/admissions/financial.htm and our "Scholarships" Web page at slisweb.sjsu.edu/resources/funding.htm for possible help with finances.
Regular session students will be given an appointment time that will appear on MySJSU (see the tutorial How To View Enrollment Appointment [PDF]). You may register for classes any time after your appointment time. For information about priority registration, see www.sjsu.edu/registrar/services/students/priority_reg.html. Appointment times are set by the Registrar's Office. The School of Library and Information Science has no control over announcements on or appointments set up through my.sjsu.edu. Contact erecords@sjsu.edu regarding these issues.
Now go to MySJSU (my.sjsu.edu) and register for your classes using the 5-digit Class Nbr(s) you wrote down previously. Make sure you have changed the drop down box to the semester you want.
If a class is full on my.sjsu.edu a message will say you need a permission number. Please disregard this message. We have no permission numbers. You should not e–mail the office or the instructor. This message means the class is full. You should check back later to see if a spot has opened, or use the wait list feature.
If you add yourself to the waitlist, you will automatically be put into a class if a spot opens up and you are next on the list. Note: The faculty have no part in this so please do not contact them. It is an automatic process. For wait list information, see info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/static/soc-fall/waitlisting.html. Read this information and the FAQ carefully.
