Subscribe to SLISadmin (and other lists, if desired). SLIS does not send information through the mail. Instead, faculty and staff post important announcements to SLIS students on our SLISadmin listserv. If you aren't subscribed to SLISadmin, you will miss these critical announcements, so we require that you subscribe to this electronic list. |

Explore our SLIS Media Productions offerings. We have a rich multimedia collection that students can access on the Internet. Dr. Sandra Hirsh, our director, does a Director's Forum twice a year. We also run a Colloquia series, and there are videos available about graduation, our student associations, internships, LIBR 289, etc. These offerings will give you good input into what is going on at our school.
Please also check out the News and Happenings sections on our SLIS home page to see what students and faculty are up to. |

Pay tuition fees. Your classes are pre–determined, and therefore, you do not need to worry about registration. We will enroll you in the appropriate classes. When you are enrolled, we will send you an e–mail. After you receive this e–mail, you can locate your payment deadlines in the "Finances" section of your MySJSU Student Center Web page. Please note that tuition payment deadlines may be as short as a few days after you are registered for a class. Pay your fees on time or your classes will be automatically dropped. |

Obtain your class textbooks.
Six weeks before classes begin, you will be able to find out what kind of textbooks (if any) are required for your classes.
Some SLIS faculty do not use textbooks. On the Fall 2012 Textbook Selections web page, you will be able to choose the courses for which you have been registered and begin to obtain your books.
Consider ordering through the SLIS eBookstore (referral fees go to the SLIS scholarship fund).
Other textbook sources include publishers or other online booksellers. |

Check for your course syllabus/greensheet.
Although instructors have no requirement to post their syllabus (greensheet) before the first day of class, many choose to do so.
You may be able to access your course syllabus to find out how the course will be run, what the assignments and deadlines are, etc.
If your class isn't linked yet, you can check again at a later date. |

View our Orientation. SLIS does not have an onsite orientation. Instead,
you will receive an email with a link to a video student orientation that will contain a welcome from Director Sandra Hirsh and our faculty,
