Dr. Joanne C. de Groot
Lecturer
Joanne de Groot received her Ph.D. from the Department of Elementary Education at the University of Alberta. She also holds a Masters of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta and a teaching degree from Queen's University. Joanne has worked in a variety of library settings in both school and public libraries, including a unique school-housed public library in rural Alberta.
Joanne is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education at the University of Alberta where she teaches in the Teacher-Librarianship by Distance Learning program. She also teaches at the School of Library and Information Studies. She has taught courses on Web 2.0 for schools and libraries, technology integration in schools, school library management, resources for children and young adults, children's literature, services for children and young adults in public libraries, and contemporary literacies.
Joanne has presented many workshops and papers at local, provincial, and international conferences. Her current research focuses on teacher-librarianship education, professional development for teacher-librarian, and ebooks in pre-service teacher education.
