David L. de Lorenzo
Lecturer
Professor de Lorenzo has had extensive experience with the management of archives and special collections in various academic settings. In his current position as Associate Director and Head of Technical Services at the Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley, he is responsible for all aspects of collection management including acquisitions, copy cataloging, original cataloging, serials, audio-visual materials, manuscript and archival collections processing, and preservation. He supervises 27 FTE staff and 17 student assistants and administers all projects involving database management, digital imaging and metadata, SGML/XML/HTML encoding, e-text development, and Web access. He manages the Library's processing and digital grants which includes development of potential grant projects, grant writing, and post-award project management. He oversees a current budget of $2 million that includes state funding, public and foundation grants and private gifts.
