Dr. Patricia C. Franks

Associate Professor

Dr. Patricia C. Franks is Program Coordinator for the Master's Degree in Archives and Records Administration. Her research interests lie in archives, records management, and emerging technologies. She has presented at numerous conferences including SAA 2010, RACO 2011, and ARMA Canada 2011. Her 2010 report, "How Government Agencies Can Effectively Manage Records Created Using New Social Media Tools," has been downloaded more than 3,000 times. Her work in virtual worlds has resulted in the creation of the Virtual Center for Archives and Records Administration (VCARA). She is the recipient of a 2011 CSU award to conduct research in the area of virtual internships.

Pat is a Certified Records Manager who is active in ARMA International, AIIM, and SAA. Pat was team lead for ARMA/ANSI 18-2011 Standard, "Implications of Web-based Technologies on Records Management." She is currently team lead on the ARMA Technical Report, "Using Social Media in Organizations." Pat is a member of AIIM's Interoperable Systems Development Committee and serves as Editor for the Business Archives Section of the Society of American Archivists.
