Anna Levy

Lecturer

Anna Levy is a Government Documents Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library, the fifth largest public library system in the USA. She launched her career in bibliography and reference service at the largest national library of Europe, the Russian State Library. In 1980s, as a Chief Reference Librarian, she has been involved in reorganizing of the nationwide system of disseminating information to government agencies via different library networks (i.e., regional, academic).

Anna has taught Government Information Sources for the Queens College (CUNY) Graduate School of Library and Information Studies since 2000. She received her BA in Liberal Arts and Library Science in 1974 from Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, and holds an MLS (1994) from the Pratt Institute (New York City).

Anna Levy has published a number of subject bibliographies on various social and economic issues. She co-authored a chapter in a reference book, Local Government Information: How to Find It, How to Use It, published in February 2005.

Born in Russia, Anna grew up in Moscow during the Soviet regime, later emigrated to the United States. In her spare time she enjoys reading and traveling around the globe with her daughter Irina.
