Dr. Ali Shiri
Lecturer
Ali Shiri is an Associate Professor at the School of Library and Information Studies, University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Before Joining the University of Alberta, Ali worked as a Senior Researcher in the Centre for Digital Library Research at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, and a project officer for the development of the NHS Glasgow Health Information Gateway.
Ali's research publications have appeared in the Journal of American Society for Information Science and Technology (2006), Journal of Information Science (2002, 2003, 2008), Journal of Documentation (2005), and Online Information Review (2009). He has presented his research at the American Society for Information Science and Technology annual conferences (2006, 2009), European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries (2007, 2008), and International Society for Knowledge Organization Biannual Conferences (2002, 2004, 2008).
Ali's research areas include: User search and interaction behavior, digital library user interfaces, user-centred search term selection and query expansion, social tagging and knowledge organization systems in digital libraries, institutional repositories, and open archives.
