Tyler O. Walters

Lecturer

Tyler Walters teaches courses at SJSU in Preservation Management and Digitization and Digital Preservation. Since 2002, he is the Associate Director, Technology and Resource Services, Georgia Institute of Technology Library and Information Center. He provides leadership and expertise in library collections management, new scholarly communication services, digital library and archives programs, information technology management, and archives and records programs.

Among his involvements are with the LC / NDIIP program, the MetaArchive Cooperative (digital preservation service), the Unified Digital Formats Registry (UDFR) interim governing board, the Open Repositories Steering Committee, the Sun PASIG, the University of Arizona Digital Information Management (DigIn) graduate certificate program advisory board, the National Science Foundation / Office of Cyberinfrastructure on issues relating to libraries and data curation, and is a regular grant panelist for IMLS and on review teams for library and information science schools. He is also a past chair of the SAA Preservation Section, a past co-chair of the SAA Committee on Education and Professional Development, and a graduate of the NEH-funded SAA Preservation Management Training Program.
