Dr. Judith Weedman

Professor

Professor Judy Weedman received a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Colorado, an M.L.S. from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in information and library science from The University of Michigan. Within the field of information science, her area of specialization is knowledge production. Her research has explored the growth of knowledge in the sciences, humanities, and professions. She has studied communication patterns of scholars (invisible colleges), use of electronic media for professional socialization, interdisciplinary collaboration in large scale research projects, and the design of vocabularies for information retrieval.

Dr. Weedman's work has been published in journals of several disciplines, including information science, communication, and computer science. She regularly presents at conferences such as those of the American Society for Information Science and the Joint Conference on Digital Libraries. Current research projects focus on design as professional practice and definitions of success in large scale technical design.
