Eight SLIS alumni and students work at NASA Ames Research Center in Summer 2009
Eight SLIS alumni and students are working at NASA
Ames Research Center near Mountain View, California, this summer.

Gage, the Ames archivist, is being assisted by Slater this summer. Bates is a Data Archive Project intern for the ALSDA (Animal Life Science Data Archive). Petrich is working on a retrospective cataloging project at the Ames Life Sciences Library. Sewell, Pryde, and van Basel Wegemans are staffing the temporary library of the International Space University's Space Studies Program hosted at NASA Ames this summer, under the supervision of McLeod, the Ames library manager.
Dr. Pat Franks elected vice content editor for business archives section of American Archivists
Dr. Pat Franks
was elected vice content editor for the
business archives section of the
Society of American Archivists at their Annual Conference held in Austin, Texas, August 11-16, 2009.
Franks will serve as vice editor for the 2009-2010 term and move into the position of editor for the 2010-2011 term. The
Business Archives Section
is comprised of employees of corporations, businesses, non-profit organizations and associations, who administer and provide access to non-current records from a historical and archival standpoint.
The Business Archives Section produces a
Directory of Corporate Archives in the United States and Canada
.
Dr. Franks is a SLIS associate professor and teaches classes in archives and information retrieval.
