Thank you for your interest in applying to the fully online Post-Master's Certificate program at the San José State University School of Library and Information Science. The program is open to individuals who already hold a master's degree in any discipline. Please follow the application process detailed below.
Our application process involves three steps:
- Contact our school's graduate advisor, Dr. Linda Main, to express interest in our program. Please also include when you graduated with your master's degree, which subject area, and where you are working.
- After receiving Dr. Main's approval, submit an unofficial transcript showing a completed master's degree to Vicki Robison. Submit the transcript as a PDF by email. We do not accept paper copies. After the transcript is submitted and before the start of the semester, Dr. Main will assign an academic advisor.
- Pay your fees after you are enrolled in each class.
The deadline to apply for admission and submit transcripts for fall 2014 is Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Fall courses begin on Monday, August 25, 2014 (Although you are encouraged to begin Libr 203 on August 1, 2014.). Once admitted to the program, the deadline to request classes is Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
Students can choose to start the program in the fall or spring semester. Students already enrolled in the program can also take summer session courses.
Our school's student services coordinator, Vicki Robison, will manage the process to enroll you in the courses you choose each semester.
Please note that we will try to get you into the class of your choice but cannot guarantee a particular instructor. We do not guarantee a particular instructor for any of our programs: MLIS, MARA, or Post-Master's Certificate
