As a student in the SJSU SLIS Post-Master's Certificate Program, you'll complete 6 courses (16 units). You'll receive guidance from a faculty advisor, who will help you choose courses that best suit your career objectives and interests.
As you begin the certificate program, you must complete a one-unit course that introduces you to our School's sophisticated online learning environment.
You will then choose 5 three-unit courses from any of the following career pathways:
- Digital Archives and Records Management
- Digital Services and Emerging Technologies
- Information Intermediation and Instruction
- Leadership and Management
- Web Programming and Information Architecture
- Youth Services
You'll be enrolled in the same courses that we offer to students in our School's ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program.
Certificate program students can enroll in courses in our Fall, Spring, or Summer sessions (though new students can only enter in Fall or Spring). Students who choose to take two courses per session can complete the Post-Master's Certificate Program in as little as one year.
