In addition to her Library and Learning Services responsibilities, Mary-Jo has been a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta School of Information, has developed and co-taught the Managing Across Generations course for the Learning Partnership and has presented at numerous library conferences. She has published articles on leadership, management and generational differences.

Mary-Jo is a Fellow of the renowned Frye Leadership Institute and is involved with the organization of the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute. She also holds certificates in advanced facilitation and public participation. Previously, Mary-Jo held senior positions in the public sector. She is the recipient of the 2014 ALISE/Jean Tague Sutcliffe Doctoral Student Research Poster Competition award.
