Quick Links

  1. Q. Is Circle of Learning currently accepting applications?
    A. Circle of Learning can only support a limited number of students, and the program is currently full. We may be able to support additional students in the future. If we anticipate openings, we will make application information available on this website. If you would like to be put on a list to be informed about future application availability, please email Heather Devine, the Circle of Learning project manager.

  2. Q. Can I participate in Circle of Learning if I haven't earned a bachelor's degree?
    A. Unfortunately, we are not able to admit anyone to our MLIS program who does not hold an undergraduate degree, despite a solid background of work experience.

  3. Q. Will Circle of Learning scholarships be available for students who apply to the Master of Archives and Records Administration (MARA) program?
    A. No. Students must be accepted into the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program.

  4. Q. Is the scholarship available to non-U.S. Indigenous people?
    A. All applications will be considered. However, as the scholarship funding is made possible thanks to a grant from a U.S. government agency, the focus of the scholarship program is to meet the needs of library patrons in the United States and provide a stronger library workforce to serve the nation.

  5. Q. Do I have to be in library school to apply?
    A. Applicants for Circle of Learning must be admitted to the MLIS program at SJSU to qualify for the Circle of Learning program.

  6. Q. Who do I contact about mentoring Circle of Learning participants?
    A. Please email Heather Devine, the Circle of Learning project manager, or reach her by phone at 650-639-5043.
