The King Library at San José State University provides both print and electronic resources. The following information will help you learn to access the materials.

- King Library Web Site. One way to get to the library home page is to use the "King Library" link at the top of each SLIS Web page. Or, go directly to sjlibrary.org
- Library Online Tutorial for School of Library and Information Science Students (LOTSS)
- Library Resources for Library and Information Science Students. This page on the King Library Web site has contact information for our library liaison. The links in the left menu offer resources especially applicable to SLIS students.
Google Scholar. Susan Kendall and Rob Bruce of the SJSU King Library presented Using Google Scholar and Retrieving Articles for Free on 15 November 2007. It is available as an Elluminate presentation: Using Google Scholar (no password is required). [45 minutes].
- Online Databases. Databases containing full-text articles from journals and newspapers are available to students.
- Individual login authentication is used to gain access to these resources. SLIS students can create their own PIN by going to the library home page, clicking on the "My Account" button and following the instructions there for creating a PIN.
- Help with connecting to databases and troubleshooting your PIN: Contact the King Library's Student Computer Service for assistance. Call 408-808-2470 during library open hours or email LibrarySCS@sjsu.edu.
Cross Search: New in 2008, Cross Search enables the researcher to send a search query to many databases at once. This feature is accessible on the "SJSU Research Topics—Articles & Databases" pages. Subject librarians have preselected a list of databases that have appropriate sources for their specific academic discipline. - Database Login: Database login page.
- Database Selection: See a list of databases that are especially helpful for Library and Information Science. Either click on the above link or navigate by going to the King Library home page and selecting:
Research > Your SJSU Subject: Where to Start > Library & Information Science > Articles & Databases. - Electronic Journals List. Do you have a citation that you'd like to read online? This is the tool to use.
- On the library home page, click on "Articles and Databases."
- Next, click on "SJSU Electronic Journals List" in the left column.
- Search for the journal title and follow the link to see which online databases includes the journal.
- Click on the link for the database listed in your results that appears to cover the date you need.
- Using the appropriate passwords, access the database and search for the article in your citation.
