Somerton Educational Grants
The Philanthropic Ventures Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of Somerton Educational Grants for Regular Session graduate students in SJSU's School of Library and Information Science. The Somerton grant program has been established in memory of Professor Wilbur Somerton and Irma Somerton.
WHAT: Grants of up to $500 will be awarded to help with expenses for critical necessities which do not fall under other student aid programs. Examples include computer software, small educational items, eye glasses, transportation from home to school, and limited dental care.
WHO: Any Regular Session graduate student in good standing in SJSU's School of Library and Information Science, and who lives in Northern California.
HOW: Provide the following information in your request:
- Your name, address, phone number
- List your current GPA
- Itemize how the money will be spent
- A brief statement of why this is a "critical necessity" and how it will help you in your studies

DEADLINE: There is no deadline. Funding will be immediately available, if approved. Philanthropic Ventures Foundation will issue checks made payable to the student. This is a one-time educational grant.
