Messaging
When you initially log into SLISLife, you will see a notification of any new messages in the upper right hand corner of the homepage.
Clicking this link from the homepage at any time will bring you to your mailbox. From your mailbox, you can read messages in your inbox, read messages you have already sent, and compose new messages. You can navigate between these functions using the menu bar at the top of your inbox.
When you first sign up, you will have a welcome message awaiting you from the San José Admin.
From your mailbox, you can send a message to anyone on your friends list. Select "Compose Mail," then select the friend you would like to send a message to from the first box on the page.
By clicking the preview button, you can review how your message will appear to your friend before sending. If you are happy with the message, press "Send" from here. If you want to change anything, click "Edit."
You can also send messages to users directly from their pages. Midway down the each user's profile on the right side, you will find a link that reads "Send [user] a message."
Clicking this link will send you to the compose message screen, with the recipient already identified. Type to text you want in your message, add a subject, and click the "Send" button.
To permanently erase your trashed messages, click on the link that says "Empty Trash" on the top of the mailbox.
