[edit] Overview

A gathering of the International Society for Technology in Education (a K-12 tech org with 14,000 members). Met in Second Life to hear Jeremy Kemp speak about Sloodle and the SJSU SLIS campus. The inaugural ISTE SL Speaker Series with a crowd of over 30 and a tour of the SJSU island for more Q & A.

Key Points:

1. Second Life is richest as an asynchronous platform

2. Land owners are facilitators and carry characteristics of expert distance learning educators

3. Time to find and present proof of SL as a HIGHLY usable learning platform — a lot of presentations on promises but “where’s the beef? The hard data and systematic gathering of numbers and case studies?”

4. Single Platform Issue
