Body Parts

From SLIS Second Life Wiki

Notice that this avatar's body is actually an inventory item that I got from the freebie warehouse (based on the Tekken fighting character "Lee"), but I can still change any and every thing about its appearance by choosing from the list of body parts and aspects to the left. Also notice that my avatar goes into a sort of suspended animation noted by the "Editing Appearance" caption under my avatar's name. This lets other people know that I may be not paying attention to the SL world at large, but looking in a virtual mirror like Narcissus bedazzled by himself ;)

Any of a great number of body aspects can be changed via this interface. For example, by maxing out all the variables my avatar looks like so:

And if I wanted to save these changes, I'd click on the "save" button indicated by the arrow.

This is a good place to talk about the different save features in the editing appearance dialog. Clicking "save as" lets you create alternate versions of each of the variables of your avatar. These versions are saved as inventory items that you can mix and match in various "outfits" that are like saving versions of yourself and are saved as a folder in your inventory which you can just drag and drop onto your avatar to "wear" the entire appearance. Clicking the "save" button within the current avatar details alters those aspects changed in that avatar configuration. Changing settings in multiple tabs such as "shape > head, eyes, etc." or "skin > skin color, face detail" can be saved all at once by clicking the "save all" button under the "save" button. The "make outfit" button if for when you first create your avatar. Also, remember to hit the final "save all" button on the bottom row to keep your work.
