Cisco’s site is clean and functional. While I was there I watched a couple of streaming videos and met an IT person from Minneapolis who said he regularly visits this site to watch recent conference presentations about virtual environments and the IT industry.
Here is a nice example of a real life publishing company’s effort to establish an interesting in-world presence. The books in the bookshop and café can be purchased or read on the Web. The sign outside invites visitor feedback and suggestions. Inside you can watch a streaming video of a book talk with an author that was filmed in the virtual shop.
Sponsored by the Mexico Tourism Board, this location lets you explore Chichen Itza from the comfort of your home. Hop on the butterfly and turn up the volume for an audio tour around the site. This location makes you think about how other tourism boards might advertise in SL. Exploring real-life travel destinations in advance in a virtual way could help you pick and/or plan your real-life trip.
