Reporting Sloodle problems

From SLIS Second Life Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

If you discover a problem (or a "bug") in Sloodle, then it is important to report it, so that we can fix it. There are different ways to report problems, but whatever way you choose, please remember the following:

  • Check to see if it has been reported before
  • Provide as much information as you can

(We cannot help you unless you tell us exactly what you were doing and what went wrong)

In-world

It is not generally a good idea to report problems in-world, as it does not provide a permanent record of them. However, if you have to report the problem in-world, then IM "Pedro McMillan". He will make a note of it and try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Ideally, however, please use one of the other methods below.

Forums

The simpler method is to post a message to our Q&A forums at Sloodle.org. In the title, mention a very brief description of the problem. In the body, please give as much information as you can, such as the following:

  • What tool(s) were you using?
    • Names
    • Version numbers (where appropriate)
  • What had you done so far?
    • Configured the object?
  • Do you have Sloodle installed on your own Moodle?
  • What did you expect to happen?
  • What actually happened?
  • Were there any error message?

Any other information that you think is relevant would be useful too. We will try to respond as soon as possible, but remember that we will keep most of the programming discussion separate, so you might not see any immediate progress. Problems sometimes take time to fix! :)

Issues Tracker

If you are more experienced with software testing, then you might want to try using our Issues Tracker directly instead. It is fairly simple to use. Once again, please remember to provide as much information as possible. Please be aware that we will also use the issues tracker for a lot of our discussion about solving the problem, so if you want to be kept informed, then just keep checking the comments on the issue.
