Use this page to configure your computer for use with Second Life and access the SJSU SLIS island. See: http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php
KEY POINT #1: Make sure you have the right graphics card.
- Mac users should navigate to Finder / Applications / Utilities / System Profiler
- PC users have several options:
- Use the Device Manager in the Control Panel
- Go to Start / Run and type "dxdiag"
- Use a system diagnostic program such as: http://www.download.com/AIDA32/3000-2094_4-10516199.html
KEY POINT #2: Make sure you have a broadband connection with proper firewall. See below.

- nVidia GeForce 2, 4mx or better
- ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better
- Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4)
- 800MHz Pentium III or Athlon, or better
- Memory: 256MB or better

- Mac OS X 10.3.9 or better
- 1 GHz G4 or better
- Memory: 512MB or better

Firewalls help administrators filter information from the Internet. Second Life uses a "port" that is different from Web browsers and may be blocked at your computer.
