Summary

Pile On Quiz

Allows users in Second Life to take a multiple choice quiz that the teacher has set up in MOODLE. Questions are displayed as hover text above the Pile, and possible answers are displayed as hover text above separate semi-spheres which are rezzed for each question. Students sit on the Sphere they think is the correct answer. The cylinder is then touched, and the option "answer" is clicked. If the user is sitting on the semi-sphere that is the WRONG answer, they will fall. This is a really fun way to administer a quiz.

Compatibility

The Pile on Quiz is a sub-component of the Sloodle Set, so please check the Sloodle Set Compatibility information.

Setup

Automatic Configuration

The Pile on Quiz is distributed as part of the Sloodle Set. It is recommended that you use the official Sloodle.org Object Distributor to obtain an appropriate Set for your Sloodle version. You can also obtain the set through this link on Linden Labs ebay-like web shop xstreetsl.com.

Rez and configure the Sloodle Set, and click on the object vector box (the tall one in the middle). Select the "SLOODLE Pile on Quiz" option from the dialog that appears, and a Pile on Quiz should be rezzed for you.

The Sloodle Set will automatically configure the Pile on Quiz for you, so it should be ready to use.

Notecard Configuration

If you prefer, you can configure the Pile on Quiz manually using a notecard. It uses the same format as the 'sloodle_config' notecard for a Sloodle Set, so you can use the Sloodle notecard setup page on your Moodle site to generate one. The text from there should be placed into a notecard called "sloodle_config" in the Pile on Quiz's inventory. You will need to reset the scripts before the notecard is detected.

Notecard configuration is useful because:

  • it will not lose its configuration when it is reset
  • it does not require the use of a Sloodle Set every time
  • it can be slightly more secure than automatic configuration
