H

Beginning August 4, you may start work on Libr 203, a one-credit course to introduce you to the technologies you'll be using in your classes. You will be enrolled in Libr 203 after you have requested your Blackboard account.

You must enroll yourself in the appropriate Blackboard site. You should receive instructions via MySJSU messaging by end of day on July 30.

If you have questions about this course, e-mail Debbie Faires or Dale David.

I RSVP by August 15 for the New Student Orientation - Fall 2008, if you are planning to attend this optional in-person meeting. New Student Orientation will be held on Saturday, August 23, in San José, CA and on Sunday, August 24, in Fullerton.
J Check for course web pages (also known as greensheets, syllabi)
Although instructors have no requirement to post web pages or Blackboard sites before the first day of class, many choose to do so. If your class isn't linked yet, check back again on a later date.
K Login to MySJSU regularly to check for announcements from the University and from your instructors. This is especially important during the week before each semester begins.
L Get directions and parking information (if you are taking hybrid classes)
M

Self-enroll in the Blackboard site for any classes that may be using Blackboard
[How to enroll in a course]

  • Enrolling through the University for a course does not automatically enroll you in the Blackboard site for that course. You must do both of the following:
    1. Register for a course through the University's my.sjsu.edu site AND
    2. Self-enroll for the Blackboard site for that class (if there is one — not all instructors use Blackboard for their classes).
  • Check the course web page (syllabus or "greensheet" as it is labeled at SJSU) to see if Blackboard will be used in the class. If so, look for the date when the Blackboard course site will become available.
  • Check your messages in MySJSU for the access code for enrollment in the course site.
N Consider joining a student organization: ALASC or SAASC. All students are automatically members of LISSTEN.
