Cynthia Hill in space gear!

Ms. Hill, President of the Special Libraries Association and SJSU SLIS alumnus, will speak about building support for your library to ensure adequate funding for your department or organization's work. She'll relate this topic to a philosophy of lifelong learning and core competencies and address how these influence and direct our capabilities in our organizations.

BIO
Cindy Hill is Director of SunLibrary and Learning Technology at Sun Microsystems, Inc, where she manages the provision of information services, resources, and knowledge collaboration environments for the worldwide network of Sun employees. Ms. Hill's 25-year career as an information professional has included working in the industries of environmental science, engineering consulting, executive recruiting, and high technology. Ms. Hill has a passion for work and personal learning opportunities which can be seen in interests and experiences that include high altitude backpacking, century bike rides, motorcycle excursions, and two stints at a NASA Space Camp.

A graduate of the SJSU SLIS program, Ms. Hill has taught occasionally in the SLIS program, welcomes SLIS interns, and has hired SJSU SLIS graduates whenever possible. Ms. Hill has been active in the SLIS Alumni Association and maintains memberships in the California Library Association (CLA), American Library Association (ALA), Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP), Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), and the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). She recently completed a three-year assignment to IFLA's Committee on Copyright and Other Legal Matters.
