Luminary Lecture: Nancy Zimmelman, State Archivist
The Society of American Archivists Student Chapter is thrilled to announce that Nancy Zimmelman will visit SLIS Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 1 p.m., as our annual Luminary Lecturer.
She will talk to us about developing a career as an archivist by using professional associations and networking. All members of the SLIS community are welcome.
This past February, Nancy Zimmelman was appointed State Archivist by Governor Schwarzenegger. In addition to serving as State Archivist, Ms. Zimmelman also administers the famed two-week Western Archives Institute each year. Before she became State Archivist, Ms. Zimmelman directed the California Legislative Archives Program, where she oversaw the care of the LAPD's files of the investigation of Robert F. Kennedy's assassination. Our speaker devotes much of her time to ensuring the archival profession is well developed, and she will have good news for those of us hoping to enter the field.
Please join us for this unique chance to meet one of California's most accomplished and dedicated archivists.
Ms. Zimmelman will visit SJSU and attendees in Fullerton will be able to participate through live video conferencing. We will have refreshments at each location:
San Jose: Clark Hall (CL) Room 318

Time: 1 p.m.
