Beginning November 1, submit this form to receive information about your Desire2Learn (D2L) account and to trigger your enrollment in LIBR 203 (a required course for all new students): http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/d2l/student/request/request.htm
You should receive your D2L account information within 7-10 business days. SLIS instructors and students use Desire2Learn (D2L), an online course software, for class lectures, assignments, resources, discussions, etc.
Students who have submitted this form will be enrolled in LIBR 203 on MySJSU by SLIS office staff. You cannot enroll in LIBR 203 yourself. Read important details about LIBR 203.

Register for classes.
For your first semester, you should register for some combination of the core classes, LIBR 200, 202 or 204. You will also be automatically registered for the one–unit course LIBR 203 when you confirm your intent to attend SJSU (see details about LIBR 203 enrollment).
Note: The courses in this program are difficult and require substantial work and time. Every course hour in a graduate–level course can require a minimum of three hours of your work outside of the "class" and may require much more depending on the complexity of the material. Most students carry between one - three courses per semester. Other obligations such as work and family should be carefully considered when deciding how many courses to take. Dropping classes after the deadlines early in the semester can be problematic and expensive. We recommend that you be conservative in the number of classes you take during your first semester. |

Pay your Regular Session tuition fees. Locate payment deadlines in the "Finances" section of your MySJSU Student Center Web page. Please note that tuition payment deadlines may be as short as a few days after you register for a class. Pay your fees on time or your classes will be automatically dropped. |

Obtain your class textbooks. About six weeks before classes begin, you will be able to find out what textbooks (if any) are required for your classes.

|
Read your course syllabus/greensheet. Although instructors have no requirement to post their syllabus (greensheet) before the first day of class, many choose to do so. You may be able to access your course syllabus early to find out how the course will be run, what the assignments are, etc. If your class isn't linked yet, you can check again at a later date, or you can look for your instructor's course in a previous semester. Syllabi on the LIBR 200, 202 and 204 core classes are generally quite consistent from semester to semester.

Start LIBR 203. LIBR 203 is a required one-unit, credit/no credit, self-paced, totally online class which introduces you to different SLIS online technologies, tools and success strategies.
It normally takes about four weeks to complete the course. However, if you begin on the first day that this class is available and accelerate your pace, you can complete the course before your three-credit classes begin.
All incoming students must successfully complete LIBR 203 by February 22, 2012 or a hold will be put on their records which will prevent them from continuing in their second semester.
You can begin LIBR 203 coursework on January 4, 2012. |
