What to Expect when Connecting to Elluminate

Are you about to connect to an Elluminate session for the first time? Here's what to expect:

  1. Login:
    • Select "Guest"
    • Enter your email address
    • Type in your first and last names (a space between them is fine)
    • If the session is password protected, you'll also need to provide the password
      Enter as guest and add your email address and name
  2. Wait a few seconds for the meeting download to begin. Elluminate will download a Java file to your computer.

    Internet Explorer users will need to watch for the alert bar at the top of the window.

    Click to confirm that you want to download the file.
    Click to accept the file download

    If you are using Firefox, you'll receive the following confirmation box. Confirm that you want to open the file.
    Confirm to open the file
    Mac users may need to confirm that they "trust" the file.

  3. A window will open to let you know Java is starting.

  4. The first time connecting from a new computer, you will be asked to set your connection speed. Use the pulldown menu
    Select appropriate connection speed
  5. You'll wait while the connection is established and authentication is completed.

  6. When you see this screen, you'll know your connection was successful. You'll see your name in the list of participants in the upper left of the screen.After connecting, see your name in the participant list
