What I am doing now.

I am a Technical Librarian for Boeing in Seal Beach. I manage, catalog, store, and retrieve all data for various engineering departments, which in total supports roughly 1000 people. My job is to keep people informed of resources, integrate tools as much as possible, and keep technical information flowing in an easy to use manner. It is a challenging but fulfilling position that involves working with many teams of people. I am happy to answer any questions on my position and working in a large corporate environment.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

From SLIS I learned the latest technological tools including exposure to many different ILS systems. Part of my job is to help shift organizational management away from outdated databases and into modern, useful, accessible tools. I feel that SLIS gave me great exposure to the wealth of information available. I also found that working on teams, especially remotely, gave me the tools to interact with so many people. In an online degree program I learned how to manage my time effectively and stay connected to people, regardless of location. I’ve also been very happy to find other SLIS graduates within Boeing!
