Library 2.0 has partnered with the iSchool to open up professional training to current students, alumni and information professionals around the globe! Library 2.0 hosts regular webinars and several free conferences a year focusing on different topics of interest to library and information professionals. Tomorrow, Library 2.0 is excited explore the topic of Open Data

This conference is completely virtual, open to the public and free to attend! Keynotes will begin at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and breakout sessions conclude at 3:00 p.m. To register, navigate to their eventbrite page. If you’re unable to attend the live event, don’t worry! All Library 2.0 conferences are recorded, and can be viewed once you sign up for a free library 2.0 member profile. As a member, you can also network and build connections with other LIS professionals from all over the world.

The keynote panel includes exciting information professionals such as Anne Neville-Bonilla, director of the California Research Bureau at California State Library! Lilian Coral also joins the panel as the director of National Strategy and Technology Innovation at the Knight Foundation. Just in case you thought open data was only for high level libraries and nonprofits, museums also get a moment to shine! James Neal, senior program officer at the Office of Library Services at the Institute of Museum and Library Services rounds out the group nicely.

If the idea of participating in this type of event excites you, Library 2.0 calls for presentation proposals from all professionals connected to the library and information world. Due to timing, the call for proposals is closed for this session, but definitely check out their website for information on how to apply to present at their next conference! Upcoming conferences are being announced on a regular basis, and the next one on October 30th will be about emerging technologies. Attending the event will undoubtedly open your eyes to new and exciting aspects of the information profession, but presenting at the conference offers an excellent growing experience also!
