In October 2016, VCARA members Alyse Dunavant-Jones and Marie Vans will collaborate with Community Virtual Library President Valerie HIll to offer a Metaverse Libraries Tour in Kitely and present at the Library 2.016 Virtual Conference.

Metaverse Libraries Tour – 10/2/16 @ 12pm (Pacific)

VCARA members Marie Vans and Alyse Dunavant-Jones will partner with Community Virtual Library President Valerie Hill on Sunday October 2, 2016 at 12pm (Pacific) to share a vision of virtual world librarianship that breaks barriers between virtual communities and worlds. This virtual field trip to the immersive 3D world of Kitely will share the potential of connecting virtual worlds for all types of libraries and educational communities.

To participate in the tour, join the “Librarians in Kitely” group, then paste “hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Metaverse Libraries/119/164/42″ into your viewer’s address bar. Library 2.016 Presentation – 10/6/16 @ 1pm (Pacific)

VCARA member Alyse Dunavant-Jones will co-present with Community Virtual Library President Valerie Hill on Thursday October 6, 2016 at 1pm (Pacific). Illustrating the best practices of virtual world librarianship, this session will share 3D exhibits, global programs, interactive immersive learning spaces like VCARA, and professional networking opportunities for librarians in virtual worlds.

VCARA is a proud Community Virtual Library (CVL) affiliate! The CVL is a non-profit organization that supports the Second Life educational community. It also supports the iSchool and other information science education programs by offering a virtual reference desk to help students navigate the virtual landscape; digital networking opportunities; volunteer opportunities; and exhibit, presentation, and meeting spaces.
