Office Compatibility Pack For Older Versions Of Office
PC Users
Note that the School requires PC users to have Microsoft Office 2007 or newer. The following is for informational purposes only.
If you use older versions of the MS Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access (from Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003) you need to install the compatibility pack that lets users open new versions of the associated files (Open XML file formats: docx, xlsx, pptx). Note: The Microsoft site encourages you to install critical and security updates to your PC prior to installing the compatibility pack.
For the compatibility pack and updates visit the MS Office 2007 Compatibility site and the Microsoft Windows Update site.
MS Office 2007 users may also need Microsoft Office 2007 Save As PDF Add–in (Converts MS Office files to PDF format.)
Mac Users
Note that the School requires Mac users to have Microsoft Office 2008 or newer. The following is for informational purposes only.
Microsoft's Office 2008 for Mac uses the new Open XML file formats (docx, xlsx, pptx). Students using Office 2008 for Mac or newer do not need to install anything extra.
Users running Office 2004 for Mac or older (including Office X for Mac) will need the free Open XML converter to convert docx, pptx, or xlsx files into the older file format.
