San José State University School of Library and Information Science and Queensland University of Technology Faculty of Science and Technology.
The San José School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) is the largest accredited graduate program in Library and Information Science in the world, with more than 3,000 graduate students in the MLIS degree program. Students come from more than 45 U.S. states and 15 countries. The School nevertheless houses a Center for Research, Innovation and Education and has an active roster of productive scholars.
San José State University School of Library and Information Science is partnering with Queensland University of Technology
, a well-regarded research institution, to offer an external doctoral degree program to a small cohort of academics and professionals already holding an appropriate and recognized graduate degree.
Since the San José School is limited by state legislation to master's level instruction and research supervision, the partnership enables SLIS to offer the Queensland University of Technology Ph.D. program with San José faculty, through residencies and distance learning, with on-site components at San José.
