What I am doing now.

I manage the records, internal archives, and reference library for the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. I am currently setting up a records management program (having completed a large project database), evaluating and processing the archives, and cataloging the library. My goal is to implement standards, policies, and practical solutions to our situation which will allow an easy flow of information and retrieval of key historical reference information.

What are the most valuable skills I use in my job?

Here I regularly use the research, classification, records management, electronic records management, and grant writing skills which I gained from attending SJSU’s SLIS MLIS program. Understanding the benefit and importance of archives and the usefulness of a good records management plan have been extremely helpful in educating my employers about them to improve the general productiveness and efficiency of my department.
