Three San José State University School of Information students have been selected to serve as editorial staff members on the school’s Student Research Journal (SRJ), the university’s only student-led journal.

Channon Arabit holds a B.A. in History from California State University, Fullerton. She has a background in graphic design and marketing, has volunteered with AmeriCorps, and hopes to continue working in the nonprofit sector. Her interests include web programming and information architecture. She joins the SRJ as a copy editor.

Kejo Buchanan is a Canadian iSchool student at the halfway point of her degree. Her interests include data, community and leadership in the library science career path. She currently works as a Toronto Open Data Institute member, facilitating open data discussions and contributing to civic tech initiatives and projects. Buchanan will serve a dual role as copy and content editor for the SRJ.

Rachel Greggs has an English degree from the University of Virginia and is planning to graduate from SJSU at the end of 2019 with a focus in archives and records management. She volunteers in the special collections and archives of the Redwood Library in Newport, Rhode Island. Greggs will cover both copy-editing and social media for the journal.

Arabit, Buchanan and Greggs join current SRJ staff members Stephanie Akau, Stacy Andell, Claire Goldstein, Lisa Lowdermilk, Kelly Pollard, and Megan Price.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new editors. Their skills and backgrounds will provide strong support and guidance to student authors, and will uphold the ongoing mission of the SRJ to promote cutting-edge scholarship at SJSU. We’ve got a strong team, and these new editors are a welcome addition,” said Price, SRJ editor-in-chief.

The SRJ accepts applications for staff positions on a rolling basis. iSchool students enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Science or Master of Archives and Records Administration degree program can apply to join the SRJ editorial team via an online form.

Uniquely student-governed, the SRJ is a double-blind peer reviewed journal which publishes exceptional graduate student scholarship in the fields of library and information science, archival studies, and records management.
