Intellectual Freedom

Intellectual Freedom: This infographic provides critical information regarding intellectual freedom at a glance. Intellectual freedom is the right to unrestricted access to information and ideas regardless of the medium, content, or viewpoints of the author and receiver. Both the ALA and IFLA have published statements supporting intellectual freedom as a core value of librarianship. In libraries, valuing intellectual freedom means curating a diverse collection, opposing censorship, decreasing barriers to access, and creating policies to protect user privacy. The infographic provides a list of countries with increased challenges to intellectual freedom and the list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2021.
