Rosanne Macek has been the director of library services for the City of Mountain View, California since 2010. She has also been teaching reference and information in the Master of Library and Information Science program at the San José State University School of Information for the past three years. She previously managed the Cupertino and Morgan Hill libraries for the Santa Clara County Library District. Prior to her work in public libraries she had a long career in high tech, including research positions at Apple, Nortel Networks, and RHK.

Macek is a three-time graduate of SJSU with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Master’s degree in Library Science, and Master’s degree in Public Administration.

She is currently serving as a coach for the Santa Clara County Leadership Academy, serves on the Executive Committee for the Pacific Library Partnership, is a member of the Silicon Valley Reads Advisory Board, and is a member of NASA’s Human Research Institutional Review Board. She has served on committees and held numerous offices in the California Library Association, Special Libraries Association, and Toastmasters.

Some of her favorite books include: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
