Seven Year Limit

Overview

Seven Year Limit

Graduate students must complete their degrees in seven years or classes will expire. This is part of Title V, California Code of Regulations.

Following determination that the seven-year time limit has elapsed for one or more courses the two options in the iSchool are:

  1. Course Repeat: enroll in and complete the course again.
  2. Transfer in a course (taken within seven years) from another accredited institution. Only 9 units can be transferred.

Note: The School of Information (iSchool) does not revalidate classes so revalidation of classes that exceed the seven year limit is not an option in the iSchool.
