World Languages

Overview

World Languages

As a joint venture of the School of Information and the Department of World Languages and Literatures we are happy to offer Beginning Spanish in Spring 2024. The classes can only be offered in Special Session.

Here is the Fall 2023 syllabus:  Beginning Spanish syllabus.

MLIS Special Session students must have completed INFO 203 in order to be given a permission number to take a language class. Each class is 4 units. The classes are upper division 100 level classes and they count toward your 43-unit MLIS degree.

Requesting a “Seat” in the Language Classes

When you are given a permission number to register for the class, you will also be given the course code. Permission numbers will be distributed when we have received them from the World Languages department.

Counting the Classes Toward Your Degree

List the World Language classes in the Section A of your candidacy form.

Important: The maximum number of units that can be transferred into your MLIS degree (from iSchool Open Classes, SJSU World Languages) is 9 units.
